Quilt & Socks

Here is some of what I have been doing since my last post
I done a pair of socks I used Online Yarn Saturn range I also

I also been working on a quilt this is my first big quilt that I have done Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) on it was harder than I expected because of size also backing is black flannel & as I used a black variegated thread on the top where it the black & gold fabric & it was black it was difficult to see plus my eyes are not that good but I am pleased with the results the photos are the whole quilt, closer of top & border & back showing the FMQ

 

What I have been working on

Since my last post I have been knitting & doing some quilting projects so here they are
The Online range is a 4 ply yarn 

Online Yarn Silk Range Colour 109 a pair of socks for me

A Shawl which will be a gift for someone I used Online Yarn Emotion III range I did a diagonal pattern

A 3 piece wash set I done a face mitt, Hand towel & a Back Scrubber I used a double moss stitch for all the colour is Tangerine

I also done some Dishcloths a couple of these went in to a swap

I done a log cabin table runner which was for a swap I used a Thermal wadding which is also for Oven Gloves/Mitts which is quite thick so didn't do much quilting on it

This pot holder also went in to a swap

 So While I have not posted much I have been busy I hadn't realised how much I had done until I have posted it all

Sewing Cabinet & Birthday

 Well I just had 60th birthday on 17th it been a good birthday had some lovely flowers from my Grandchildren then from my daughter & son a Amazon Gift Voucher so i have ordered some quilting books plus got a book on the kindle & still have plenty left

Went up to my DD for the week-end was going to have a BBQ but weather was bad so it was a Buffet style inside

I had some money from DH plus some lovely gifts from friends so I done very well all in all

I decided a month ago I would order a Horn Cub Plus Sewing Cabinet to treat myself for my birthday here is some photos of it, arrived on my birthday as well

Summer Porch Quilt

I had a pack of FQs a few years ago for a birthday gift they were P&B Textiles Chole range i had wanted to make a quilt with these there was 22 in the pack I used a flannel backing & cotton wadding/batting

Well i decided on doing a Quilt using the pattern Summer Porch from Quilts through the Seasons by Eleanor Burns (Quilt in a Day) this was a first for me as i have never done a quilt using a pattern i did make a slight change as the twin & queen sizes was not either big enough or too big so this has finished at 82" x 95" 

I did not do the quilting on this as i wanted this to be a special one so i had my friend Janet McElroy to do it as she does do other people's quilts & she don't have a longarm just a sewing machine so she does such a marverlous job you can see her other quilts if you go to her Blog  

I still have to make a label for this as my printer has been down waiting to see if a new part will work or i need to get a new one so will do that & add that to the back so it will have all the info on it as i hope this will be a heirloom quilt so here a lot of photos some are what i took some are from Janet

Knit Picks Socks

Here is the a pair of socks I done these are done using Knit Picks Felici "Rainbow" i left the rib open as the lady needs the extra room so this is what she wanted so she can wear them

 

Different socks

I did a pair of socks for a lady she has badly swollen legs & feet so this pair i just did a size larger & used larger needles on the rib

She still had trouble still with the rib also she said a shorter leg so i came up the idea of doing the rib still on the larger needles but straight needles & not on the round once the rib done i changed to the smaller DPs needles the lady said these one fitted perfectly so as you see in the photo the open rib, i will be doing her another pair 
Both pairs are done in 4 ply yarn
 

 

Wall-Hanging & Socks

Well not been posting much have had a few problems with one thing or another

Anyway I am in a swap & I did a wall-hanging for my swap I didn't have a pattern to follow so it an original design by me well sort of I got ideas from different books & then did it

I did the FMQ on it but the thread wasn't great as everytime I got to a certain colour in the variegated part it would break but I got it done so was pleased about that


I also have done some socks for an order i used Knit Pick Felicia Sugared Violet

I did some items below as i am doing a gift stash in which I do a gift a month so come Christmas I will have a head start on gifts I hope to do at least one a month

A New Year & Projects

Happy New Year a bit late but better than never lol

Well we went away to Scotland for a Coach holiday in December 19th-23 then on 24th went to our youngest son for Christmas got to see the other two children plus of course all the grandchildren

I am not too bad have to go for my MRI on 17th then on 26th for the results this is at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford for my Menginoma ( Brain Tumour) if no change then should be no treatment but we see when i go for the results anyway that enough said about that

I got a order for a pair of socks from my friend Janet which i done 

I also worked on a quilt for my friend for her 60th Birthday next week below is the quilt

I went to my sister in law's 60th birthday last week  25th & here is a nice photo of me & my brother Patrick taken at the party
